One of the most iconic projects that we have recently been involved with is the fit out of the Olympic Village, used by athletes and 2012 London Olympics officials. 23,000 athletes were based in the Olympic Village during the games, and designers and contractors alike were given a challenge – they were gifted the task of going that extra mile to create a haven for the athletes between events, allowing them to relax properly.
Fireglass Direct were given the design brief for supplying painted glass doors for the apartment complex and were delighted to work again with Specialist Joinery Group and H&J Martin with whom we have a long standing and collaborative relationship.
The village has towards the end of 2013, been given a new lease of life, with its own postcode, now being known as East Village E20. It is a greener place to live, with energy efficient technologies, water recycling and a careful use of space. The Stratford Recorder calls the new look village, ‘a lasting legacy after the games’ and ‘London is cool.com’ calls the apartments ‘the future of modern living’.
Team work, commitment and determination, the recipe for the successful athlete, are attributes we also apply to all we do. As Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 22 medals, says, "you can’t put a limit on anything. The more you dream, the farther you get." For a look at how we’ve brought to fruition the dreams of others, check out the projects in this and other sectors!
